MSP Directory exists to help businesses find and compare managed IT service providers with confidence. Choosing an MSP is a high-stakes decision — your provider holds the keys to your security, your data, and your uptime. This page explains how we build our directory, where our data comes from, and how we keep our recommendations independent.

How We Source Provider Data

Every provider listing in our directory is compiled from publicly available sources, in order of priority:

  1. Provider websites — service offerings, coverage areas, certifications, and contact details published by the provider itself.
  2. Google Business profiles and reviews — ratings, review counts, hours, and location data.
  3. Public business records — registration and location information that confirms a provider is a real, operating business.
  4. Industry directories and vendor partner pages — certifications and partnerships (Microsoft, Cisco, CompTIA, and similar) that we can verify against the issuing organization.

We do not accept payment to alter ratings, rankings, or review summaries. A provider cannot buy a better score.

How We Verify Listings

  • Listings are checked against at least two independent sources before publication.
  • Provider data carries a verification timestamp, and stale listings are re-checked on a rolling basis.
  • Providers that close, merge, or stop offering managed services are removed or updated when we identify the change.
  • If you spot an outdated listing, email hello@mspdirectory.com and we will review it within five business days.

AI-Assisted Research

We use artificial intelligence tools (including large language models) to help compile provider data, summarize public reviews, and draft our guides and articles. Here is where AI stops and human judgment takes over:

  • AI does: initial data collection, review-theme summarization, first drafts of guides, and consistency checks across listings.
  • Humans do: editorial review of published content, source verification, decisions about what to cover, and final sign-off. No listing or article is published without human review.

Editorial Content Standards

  • Our guides cite sources and link to original research, vendor documentation, and industry reports wherever possible.
  • We cover both the strengths and the limitations of services, pricing models, and provider types.
  • Pricing and service details change quickly in managed IT. Articles display a last-updated date, and we refresh content when the underlying facts change.

Independence and Monetization

  • Some links on this site are affiliate links, and we may earn a commission at no additional cost to you. This is disclosed site-wide.
  • Affiliate relationships have no influence on which providers we list, how we rate them, or what our guides recommend.
  • Providers can request to be listed ("List Your MSP"), but inclusion is free and subject to the same verification as every other listing. We do not sell placement.

Corrections

When we get something wrong, we fix it. Minor errors (typos, formatting) are corrected silently. Material errors — wrong provider data, misattributed reviews, inaccurate service claims — are corrected with a visible note on the affected page. To report an error, email hello@mspdirectory.com with the page URL and a description of the issue.

What We Are Not

MSP Directory is an independent directory and research publication. We are not an MSP, a reseller, or a broker. We do not provide IT services, and a listing in our directory is not an endorsement — always verify capabilities, SLAs, and pricing directly with the provider before signing a contract.
